This Strawberry Lemonade is the kind of drink that instantly makes everything feel brighter, cooler, and a little more special. Sweet strawberries, fresh lemon juice, and icy cold water come together in the most refreshing way, creating a drink that tastes like sunshine, warm days, and all the best parts of summer in one glass.
I love this recipe because it is simple to make, absolutely beautiful to serve, and always a hit with both kids and grown-ups. The strawberries make it soft and fruity, the lemon keeps it fresh and tangy, and the whole thing looks so pretty in a pitcher with ice, mint, and slices of fruit. If you are looking for a homemade drink that feels cheerful, refreshing, and worth making again and again, this one is such a lovely choice.

Fun fact about me: I was always car sick when I was little. Since I lived with my grandparents until I started school, they took me everywhere with them, and of course their car had no air conditioning, because that was just life back then. I was forever feeling sick in the back seat, and my Baba would hand me half a lemon to lick on. And somehow, it really did help. Years and years later, I found out there is actually some science behind that. Sour citrus can help ease nausea for some people, and lemon scent has also been studied as a nausea-relief aid in settings like pregnancy and after surgery. Even big hospital advice pages still mention sour citrus as something that may help settle a queasy stomach.
Anyway, you would think I would hate lemons because of all that, but I actually adore them. I love everything about lemons, the taste, the smell, the color, all of it. And strawberries, of course... what is not to love there? So Strawberry Lemonade is a real treat for me. It has that beautiful balance of sweet and tangy, and it tastes like the kind of drink that instantly makes the day feel brighter.
My family loves this recipe because it feels cheerful and refreshing and just a little bit special, even though it is so easy to make. The strawberries make it soft and fruity, the lemon keeps it bright and fresh, and when you pour it over ice with a few slices of lemon and strawberry floating around, it looks like you really made an effort. Which I always appreciate in a recipe.
It is also one of those drinks that disappears very quickly when people are over. Everyone takes one glass, then another, and suddenly the pitcher looks suspiciously empty. I always think that is the best kind of compliment.
All the best,
Ana
Why you’ll love this recipe
Main ingredients:
Fresh strawberries, lemon juice, sugar, and lots of cold water come together to make a drink that feels bright, fruity, and so refreshing. A little mint and extra fruit on top make it even prettier if you want to dress it up.
How it’s made:
You make a quick simple syrup, blend the strawberries, mix everything together in a big pitcher, and chill until cold. It is easy, beautiful, and exactly the kind of recipe that feels worth it after very little effort.
Flavours:
This lemonade is sweet, tangy, fruity, and wonderfully refreshing. The strawberries make it soft and cheerful, the lemon gives it that lovely bright zing, and together they taste like sunshine, warm days, and the kind of drink that instantly puts everyone in a better mood.

How to serve
Serve this Strawberry Lemonade very cold, poured over plenty of ice, with a few sliced strawberries, lemon rounds, and mint leaves if you want it to look extra pretty. I love serving it in a big pitcher for summer lunches, birthdays, barbecues, or just having it in the fridge on a warm day when everyone wants something refreshing. It is lovely on its own, but it also goes so nicely with light lunches, sandwiches, grilled chicken, fruit platters, and simple summer desserts. If you are entertaining, you can even set out glasses with extra lemon slices and mint so everyone can make their glass feel a little special.
Tips for Success
- Use fresh lemon juice if you can. It really does make a difference here. Bottled juice can work in a pinch, but fresh lemons give the lemonade that bright, clean flavour that makes it taste lively and homemade.
- Let the simple syrup cool before adding it to the pitcher. If it goes in hot, it can warm up the whole drink and slightly dull that fresh, icy feeling you want from lemonade. A little patience here is worth it.
- Blend the strawberries really well so the drink feels smooth and evenly fruity. If you prefer a cleaner-looking lemonade, you can also strain the strawberry purée, but I usually do not mind a little natural texture. It feels more homemade to me.
- Taste before chilling and adjust if needed. Some strawberries are sweeter than others, and some lemons are sharper, so this is one of those recipes that always deserves a little taste at the end. Add a bit more water if it feels too strong, or a little more sugar if the lemons are very bold.
- Chill it properly before serving. This drink is at its absolute best when it is really cold. If you are short on time, serve it over lots of ice, but if you can, let it sit in the fridge for a while so the flavours have time to come together.
- Do not add too much ice directly to the pitcher if it is going to sit for a while. It looks lovely at first, but it will water the lemonade down. I prefer to add ice to the glasses and keep the pitcher cold in the fridge.
- And one little tip from me, make extra if you are serving guests. Strawberry Lemonade has a way of disappearing very quickly, especially when the weather is warm and everyone says they only want “a small glass.”
Substitutions & Variations
- This Strawberry Lemonade is very easy to adjust depending on what you have at home and how sweet or fruity you want it to be. If you do not have fresh strawberries, frozen strawberries work beautifully too. Just let them thaw a little before blending. You can also swap the granulated sugar for honey, maple syrup, or agave if that is what you prefer, keeping in mind that each one will change the flavour slightly.
- If you want a lighter version, simply use a little less syrup or add more cold water to taste. And if you like your lemonade extra punchy, add a bit more fresh lemon juice for that sharper, brighter finish. For a smoother drink, you can strain the strawberry purée before mixing it into the lemonade, but if you do not mind a little natural texture, I think it is lovely left as is.
- You can also play around with the fruit. Raspberries make a beautiful version, and watermelon or peach can be delicious too for a slightly different summer feel. A handful of fresh mint blended in or added to the pitcher gives it a fresher twist, and sparkling water can be used in place of some of the cold water if you want a fizzy version.
- If you are serving adults, this is also the kind of drink that can be turned into a lovely little summer cocktail with a splash of sparkling wine, vodka, or gin. And if you are making it for a party, you can dress it up with extra lemon slices, whole strawberries, and lots of ice so it looks as cheerful as it tastes.
Storage Tips
This Strawberry Lemonade keeps really well in the fridge, which is one of the lovely things about it. Store it in a covered pitcher or jar for up to 2 days, and give it a good stir before serving because the strawberry purée can naturally settle a little at the bottom. That is completely normal.
I like to keep it plain in the fridge and add the ice only when serving, so it does not get watered down. The same goes for the mint, lemon slices, and strawberry garnish. They look beautiful, but they are best added just before serving if you want everything to stay fresh and pretty.
If the lemonade tastes a little stronger after chilling, just add a splash of cold water and stir. And if you happen to have leftovers after a party, which feels unlikely, you can even pour it into ice cube trays or popsicle molds for a little bonus treat later on.
