Hi, I’m Ana, the home cook behind World Cuisines Network.

I was born and raised in Croatia, where food was never just food. It was family, comfort, celebration, routine, and sometimes the best part of the day. Now I live in Melbourne with my family, where life is busy, dinner comes around alarmingly fast, and someone always needs feeding.

I’ve been cooking at home for more than 18 years (which makes me experienced, not ancient 🙂). I’ve cooked through lazy weekends, busy weekdays, family dinners, tired evenings, and those nights when I really did not feel like making anything but still somehow ended up in the kitchen.

I have always loved travel; the journey, the excitement of arriving somewhere new, discovering local food, and getting to know different cultures. I was lucky enough to meet someone who loves all of that too. We met on a trip to Bratislava and even had our first date there. He proposed in Rome, we got married in Croatia surrounded by the sea, honeymooned in Barcelona, and now live in Melbourne. In between, we also travelled to places like China and New York, and every trip left its mark on how I cook and how I see the world.

That is a big part of why I created World Cuisines Network, to bring all that good food and inspiration from around the world into everyday home cooking. I wanted to make global flavours feel exciting, but still approachable for real life.

These days, life looks a little different. With two kids, school, and all the activities that come with family life, we do not travel as much as we once did. But we still take road trips almost every weekend and squeeze in shorter getaways whenever we can. We still want to show our kids the world and all the beauty in it, just in a slightly more family-life-friendly way.

Over time, I have also shifted the website more toward family-friendly recipes, because that is what my life is full of now. I believe deeply in home-cooked meals. It is how I grew up, and it is something I want for my own kids too. I want them to remember our home by laughter, good times, and good food. I am also very lucky that my kids are not picky eaters, so I get to cook things like Malaysian Beef Stew, and they happily eat it, which still feels like a small miracle.

A few of my forever favourites are Croatian Goulash, Pea Risotto, Lemon Ricotta Cake, No-Bake Tiramisu, and Potato Caesar Salad, which tells you quite a lot about me, really. I love food that is comforting, delicious, and absolutely worth going back for seconds.

I also created Five Dinners, my newsletter for busy people, especially parents, who still want to get home-cooked meals on the table as often as they can. My goal is simple: to help make dinner easier by sending ideas your way, so you do not have to spend your last bit of energy wondering what to cook or searching for inspiration while everyone is already hungry.

If you’re looking for approachable recipes, family-friendly meals, and a little inspiration from around the world, you’re in the right place. I’m so happy you’re here.

All the best,

— Ana
